To enhance residents’ travel convenience and promote sustainable urban development, the Macao SAR Government has placed high priority on and actively advanced the research on the future development strategy of the Macao Light Rail Transit, while conducting public consultations to refine the planning proposals. Government departments from construction held consultation sessions for the professional sector on the development strategy of the Macao Light Rail Transit. On behalf of the Architects Association of Macau, BD President WU Kim Kam and Director SI Kun Hong attended and expressed their opinions.

The Architects Association of Macau held its 2025 Annual General Meeting at its new location at No. 24A-26 Rua de Pedro Nolasco da Silva. The meeting was hosted by the President of the General Assembly, Ar. LEONG Chong In Ben. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to the Macau Holy House of Mercy for their support regarding AAM’s relocation. He stated that AAM would leverage the advantages of the new central location to organize more activities aimed at enhancing participation among local residents and the public. Following this, Ar. CHOI Wan Sun Christine, President of the Board of Directors, presented the annual work report on behalf of the Board, while Ar. CHEUNG Hau Kuen Mimi presented the annual financial report. Christine Choi reviewed AAM’s development over the past year. She highlighted that AAM had organized multiple lectures and seminars for industry professionals. In terms of international engagement, AAM participated in the 21st Asian Congress of Architects (ARCASIA) held in South Korea. Additionally, to promote and support local architects, AAM organized architectural design competitions and exhibitions. In community outreach, it continued initiatives such as the “Go to School” program, assisting young people in expanding their creative horizons and paving the way for building a better community. Subsequently, Ar. WONG Yue Kai Eddie, President of the Supervisory Board, delivered a report on behalf of the board, and the annual work and financial reports of the Board of Directors were approved.

The meeting then proceeded with the election of the new Organ for the upcoming term. With unanimous approval from members, Ar. LEONG Chon In Ben was re-elected as President of the General Assembly for the 2026–2027 term. Architects Carlos MARREIROS, WONG Chong Un Jonnathan, and CHOI Wan Sun Christine were elected as Vice Presidents. Ar. WU Kim Kam Donna was elected as the new President of the Board of Directors, with Architects HO Pui Kei Jay, LAI Kun Fong Manuel, Nuno SOARES, LAI Kuong Hou Ryan, and Jimmy WARDHANA serving as Vice Presidents. Ar. WONG Yue Kai Eddie was re-elected as President of the Supervisory Board, with Ar. CHEANG Kun Wai Paulo as Vice President. Ar. Carlos MARREIROS was appointed as President of the Fellow Members Council. The meeting concluded with self-introductions by the newly elected Council members and a brief overview of the 2026 work plan and direction by the newly elected President of Board of Directors, Ar. Donna Wu, as well as a group photo of all attendees.

The “2025 Macao Project Management Awards Ceremony” was held at the Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre. Organised by the Macao Project Management Professionals Association, Macau Construction Safety Association and Association of Building Engineers of Macau, the Awards serve as an important platform recognising outstanding achievement and advancing professional excellence within Macao’s construction and engineering sectors. The organizing committee has selected 20 outstanding award-winning projects, including small-medium-scale repair and renovation works, and large-scale projects such as healthcare complexes, public housing, and light rail systems. On behalf of the Architects Association of Macau, BD Vice President Manuel LAI was invited to serve as the award presenter.

The DSOP recently met with representatives of the “Six Associations” of the Macao Construction Industry Development Concern Group to hold a meeting regarding the improvement plan for the public works tendering system. During the meeting, attendees exchanged views on the proposed revisions to the public tender documents, with a focus on enhancing fire safety and scaffolding safety management, as well as the scoring criteria for the proportion of local employees hired. The representatives also provided suggestions regarding the establishment of a database for engineering consultancy bids.
