CPD Seminar 2026
9th July, 2026
The Architects Association of Macau invited Mr. CK LEUNG, Contract Manager and Technical Director of Jetway Building Material Limited to give the seminar “Multi purpose solution in sustainable construction projects - YTONG AAC”, introduce YTONG Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC), a lightweight construction material composed of cement, lime, sand, water, and an aerating agent. Its cellular structure results in reduced density while providing inherent properties such as thermal insulation, fire resistance, and ease of handling. The seminar outlined the manufacturing process and product range—including blocks, lintels, and panels—highlighting their dimensional accuracy, consistency, and construction practicality. These characteristics support improved site efficiency and reduced material waste.
Applications discussed include load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls, floor and roof elements, as well as use in modular construction systems (MIC). The material’s performance is considered in relation to construction speed, resource efficiency, and building operation.
Furthermore, the seminar examined AAC in the context of sustainable construction, focusing on lifecycle energy performance, compatibility with green building certification frameworks (e.g., BEAM Plus), and long-term durability.
29th May, 2026
Michael CHOI, Solution Consultant at Tech Data distribution (Hong Kong) Limited, delivered a seminar titled “Smart Design, Smarter Delivery”, exploring the application and practice of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms in the architectural and infrastructure sectors.
Michael shared in-depth case studies on how AI tools can optimise architectural design, enhance energy efficiency, and improve structural safety, while also enhancing aesthetic harmony with Macau’s cultural identity. Meanwhile, as a centralised digital hub, the CDE effectively facilitates real-time data sharing and cross-disciplinary collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and government agencies, reducing redundant work and enhancing project transparency throughout the entire lifecycle.
The event attracted active participation from industry professionals, who engaged in discussions on how innovative technologies can address emerging challenges in design and construction against the backdrop of Macau’s accelerating urban development and its distinctive blend of traditional and modern architecture.
